Aww, Jared there to meet Jensen’s mom, I just love that! And I like Jensen’s mom, and I don’t blame her for trying to talk to Alan. She’ll never stop being a mom, wanting to see her child happy, to make things better if she can. One of the best things though is Josh, and Jensen and his mom joking about Josh. That made me smile.
The explanation she gives to Jared about Alan, how he was scared that day, that everything he believed in was in conflict, is a good one. But it is unfortunate that Alan can’t just see his son, just Jensen, not gay or straight.
At first I thought Jensen and Tom had a lot in common. It may have been true years ago when they first met, but I don’t think that’s the case any longer, or perhaps it’s just the vast differences between Jared and Tom that makes my teeth grind together whenever Tom says or does something callous (like telling Jensen he’s vanilla). Tom has replaced love with power, the limelight.
But then he does something like take Jensen out of the rehearsal dinner and calm him. Because of Tom’s own family, this is for sure something they do have in common. This, I suppose, is Tom’s natural element, bolstering up Jensen, when he’s been knocked down for being gay. (I hope that makes sense.)
Jared’s surprise of chocolate milk is awesome. Too bad Tom didn’t want to see that, could only see potential embarrassment - yeah, too bad he couldn’t see that everyone would see it as a sweet and touching gesture if he went along with it.
Another bittersweet moment when Jensen asks Jared to tell him something about the space program. Jared always needs that to calm him, and now Jensen needs it, too.
I’m glad Jensen at least has his family with him at the end of the night.

I am so glad you pointed this out. It's been missed by some I believe. Jared's 'obsession' with the space program. Sure, it's a little bit of his Asperger's and it's also his coping mechanism. But it's more. Because it's not just trivia he spits out randomly. There's a reason behind it all. There's a connection he's made to values and strength and a code for life. It's his core value system come to life. And Jensen instinctively picks up on it. He asks Jared for this to hear strength and integrity. Ultimately this gives him the strength to be honest himself.
