I had a great time this weekend hanging out with 400 ladies (there were a few men sprinkled in there for good measure) at the national conference this past weekend. My roommate for the weekend was Mary (who is from Mississippi, not Texas. Oops!). We enjoyed just chatting and hanging out with Dawn, who is from Louisianna. Friday evening, we ate at a marvelous Greek restaurant one block from the hotel. I met Veronica and Eric from HQ in Boston. We got to see the new items in the fall and winter catalog, which will go on sale September 1st. In fact, we came home with a few of them! There was a gala-dinner and dance on Saturday evening. I haven't danced in years, so I stayed until the end at 01:00 and walked back to the hotel (only 4 blocks) in my stocking feet. As a result of that (or from the first week of school or a combination thereof) I have picked up some kind of viral infection. Nasty sore throat for 2 days now and today, a lovely cough has been added. So, I'm staying home, pushing liquids and digging into my stash of cold medicine that I brought back with me from the USA. There's even a bit of knitting that is getting done. Tuesday evening, I finished another bag and threw it in the washer to felt it. It'll get a lining today. I've also got 2 pairs of socks OTN (on the needles). The first pair is Lava Flow Socks from
the Sock Bug and the Mystery Socks from
Socktopia. I've been spending too much time on-line in knitting forums (see
The Coffeeshop and Ravelry, which is still in beta, so it's not quite open to the public, yet, but you can get on a waiting list), so the knitting hasn't been as productive as I'd like. I need to learn to knit and surf at the same time!
