We met some of our neighbors the other day. There are no words for how exciting this was to me. As a kid I always had this dream straight from a sitcom that this is what adulthood looked like. Kids riding bikes through the streets, a white picket fence, and cookouts with the neighbors. Well, short of the white picket fence that is now exactly what we have!
We ran to Wal-Mart on Thursday to get garden stuff and were stopped by this guy who said "hey, aren't you my neighbors?" and we had a lovely chat with him in the garden center. Actually, Jeff talked. I played peek-a-boo with his two year old. A good time was had by all. We parted ways with an invitation to come hang out and have dinner the next night.
We wandered down the street about six and hung out and got to know one another and then our neighbors from across the street (whom we had met briefly but didn't really know) also joined us. We had a wonderful time talking and laughing and eating and drinking. We finally wandered back home around midnight. It was wonderful and I'm already trying to figure out when we can do it again!
Now all I need to do is start vacuuming the house in pearls and learn to make meatloaf...
