It seems that after a couple of years since lapsing from being vegetarian that I can safely say that I no longer like chicken or turkey.  I thought maybe it was from going so long without eating them, but I've just been unable to get used to the flavor.  I'll eat them, but it's definitely way down on my list of meat preferences.  I had trouble eating fish again, but have mostly gotten used to it.  It needs to be FRESH, though.  And beef I never lost the taste for.  I enjoy the flavor but I just have to think about something else when I'm eating.  It's so hard for me to be eating meat, but I can't even BEGIN to think about going back until after this whole allergy thing is resolved and I anticipate that it will take months, at the very least.  Maybe then....  *sigh*

Today's breakfast (always uncooked or microwaved) is toast spread with the last of my hot salsa and fresh avocado and topped with Applegate turkey bacon that I nuked.  Man, meat is expensive.  I don't eat HUGE portions, I don't think.  A package of 8-12 ounces is two meals for me, or 4-6 ounce servings before cooking.  And if I've skipped meals that day and am ravenous, I can eat the whole thing.  But the meat seems to run 4-6 dollars for that size, regardless of whether it's beef, chicken, fish... whatever.  That's a lot of money for food for one person (even if it is a lactating person... do I get to count as food for two?)

money, food, health
