Nintendo x Koei, mark 2.

Yep, I have a Wii U now, along with Hyrule Warriors. This I must say: I'm only a couple stories in, and IMPA IS A BADASS.

No, really. Zelda's personal bodyguard (and old-lady handmaiden in some versions) can use either a Naginata or a Giant Sword - basically a dadao with a four-foot blade; she tends to use the latter one-handed, and sometimes in reverse grip. Also, she has respectable agility.

Sheik kills stuff with THE POWER OF ROCK - well, various musical spells cast by her harp. And kunai and shuriken, like a ninja.

Darunia, King of the Gorons, also kills stuff with THE POWER OF ROCK... but that's more literally, since he uses a giant stone hammer.

Actually, most of the playable heroes are ladies, with a rather wide range of weapons, styles, and looks. The full list:

Link - yeah, it's Link.
Impa - heavy weapon badass.
Zelda - fights with a rapier or magical baton.
Lana - uses weird magical techs, or a nasty spear and summoned treants.
Sheik - a ninja who wastes foes with the power of rock music.
Darunia - the Goron King with a giant hammer.
Ruto - the Zora Princess who fights bare-handed.
Midna - the "Twilight Princess" complete with her wolf and weaponised hair.
Agitha - Peach as an eight-year-old. No, really, she fights with a parasol and pesters her foes with summoned bugs.
Fi - She's a better natural sword-master than even Impa; but that's cheating, because Fi's natural form IS a sword.

The other three are villains that get unlocked as playable. They're all doods.
Zant - Midna's nemesis, who's totally insane and dual-wields scimitars along with magic.
Ghirahim - a fabulous demon who uses a saber and enjoys himself way too much.
Ganondorf - yeah, it's Ganondorf, dual-wielding two-handed swords.

AWESOME STUFF SO FAR
