every time i talk about how much i love winter, or how much i love snow, or how much i love fucked up wisconsin weather, i am totally disregarding all the inevitable car problems that come along with it. from the way this week has gone so far, i'm pretty much just waiting for this phone call to go down:
"hi is this henry?"
"yes"
"you've got cancer."
"oh...ok."
my car is has already been in the shop since monday, i just got it BACK from the shop on friday, and the parts it needs aren't coming until at least tomorrow so i might not get it back until next week. i needed to use my sister's car to go to work today. i have to leave for work at 4 in the morning it just so happens that we were having a massive retarded snowstorm!...it also just so happens that my sister's car is a VW bug. and it just so happened that SINCE it was 4 in the morning, the snowplows hadn't gone to work yet in my part of town.
it takes me 5 minutes to get to work. it took me five minutes to get out of my parking lot today. then it took me about 8 minutes to drive 3 blocks down the street. then it took me AT LEAST 20 minutes to drive up the hill on brackett street. 20 fucking minutes. once i got to the top it was about another 5 minutes to drive the rest of the way to work (during which time the windows fogged up beyond the capability of the defroster, might i add). and then, for the cherry on top, as soon as i pulled into the parking lot, after about HALF AN HOUR of seeing my snow plow tax dollars being flushed down the toilet, the alternator blew out and the battery died. the poor little VW bug shat itself. it's worth noting that i live 5 minutes away from my job.
since i got to work about 10 minutes before we aired the 2 hour morning newsblock, i had to wait until afterwards to call a tow truck...at 7 am. right when EVERYBODY needed a fucking tow truck. now both our cars are in the garage. i need a fucking vacation...but a beer will do for now.
