things that have pissed me off in the past week:
POWER STRUGGLES
our chief news director died of a heart attack a few days ago, on the 4th of july. i didn't feel much like partying after that. it was sudden, nobody saw it coming, and now our news room is in the early stages of anarchy. the vacancy is currently being held down by two interim chief news directors, one of whom likes having an imposing title (like chief news director) so he can have his way with people he disagrees with; and one of whom is completely power hungry. a total dictator. he thinks he's the best thing to ever happen to our station and he'll throw anyone under the bus if it means he'll win points with management. these two are running the show now. our old news director was fair and everyone liked him. as horrible as it sounds, the interim guys probably saw his death as a "career opportunity" to some extent.
POLITICAL CORRECTNESS
just once i want to see a commercial featuring two white guys, or two black guys, or two indian guys, or (gasp) two asian guys hanging out, or a family with a mexican dad and a black mom...and a white kid just for shock value....or a commercial featuring a biracial couple. apparently biracial couples piss people off....but america is OK with a black guy hanging out with a white guy. furthermore, i'm pretty sure i've never seen a commercial featuring a black and an asian, regardless of gender. political correctness is gay. pun intended.
COUNTRY MUSIC CULTURE
yeah...the culture. the music doesn't piss me off NEARLY as much as the culture. today's poster boys for country music are condescending drunken frat boys with cowboy hats and no shirts. usually sunburned too. i don't think they even like country music either. they show up at the concerts to get hammered and put on a show for any girls who are dumb enough to pay attention. they'll chastise anyone who isn't like them but if you return the favor they'll threaten you. what's more is that they try to come off as the GOOD GUYS! the good ol' down-home boys. real do-gooders...drinkin beer on friday, goin' to church on sunday. yessiree, all-american law abidin' family man, but i'll kick yer ass if you look at me funny...or say anything bad about brett favre.

LUNATICS AND GUN CONTROL
everybody is paranoid when it comes to gun control no matter where you stand on the issue. if you oppose gun control laws, you probably want a gun to protect yourself from lunatics. if you support gun control laws, you probably don't want lunatics to even HAVE guns. if you're pro-gun control and you get shot by a lunatic, you have no justice. if you're anti-gun control and you get shot by a lunatic, you have no excuse. if you live in harlem and carry a gun around in case of lunatics, you'll probably scare the lunatics. if you live in de pere and carry a gun around in case of lunatics, you ARE a lunatic.
