why are people who listen to techno always the same ones who nag on you to throw away your computer?
apple products piss me off. especially the ones i own.
last night i was getting ready to go to bed, and i remembered a certain album i really wanted to buy...so i dropped everything and went over to itunes with intentions to buy this album, put it on my ipod and drift off to sleep while listening to it. estimated time of operation: 7 minutes.
i hadn't bought anything on itunes for a few weeks, and over the course of those few weeks i changed my billing address AND lost my credit card....so i couldn't figure out for the life of me why itunes was denying my attempts to buy this album. when i finally realized what was going on i had to do all the torturous form-filling and account-updating, and by that point it was like 20 minutes later.
then our internet connection decided to crap out WHILE the album was downloading, and by this point i wasn't about to just quit and go to bed because i had already been fighting this retarded war for half an hour. so i restarted the router and waited like an extra 15 minutes for it to finish.
and HERE's why apple sucks, on top of all that:
while i was filling out my new payment & billing information, the C key randomly popped off. it just came off. then while i was trying to snap it back into place the F key popped off. i couldn't fix that one so i just went without it. no more F words for me. so now i have to take it to the apple store today after work where i'll probably have to pay them like 45 bucks to replace a single button. this isn't the first time it's needed random and unnecessary work either, last year i had to pay 300 bucks for them to fix the CD/DVD laser, which should not have been broken for any reason.
THEN...after i had already waited forever for the album to download, i hooked up the ipod...and the computer wouldn't detect it. i unplugged/plugged it back in at least 10 more times and still nothing. i restarted the computer and it still wouldn't sync up. at this point i was fucking irate. at like 10:20 i was stoked to buy a new album and go to bed. here it was past 11:30 and i'm ready to dropkick my laptop...and i still don't have the album. i eventually had to shut down the computer, wait 5 minutes, re-boot it and try again. it worked.
it was at about that time i noticed the screen on the ipod was cracked. probably from being jolted around in a travel bag this weekend with a menacing bottle of contact solution or some other inanimate object that probably caused it irreparable damage upon contact.
please, can somebody cooler and better come along and drive apple out of business?...please? i'll buy your shit.
i still got up at 3:30 this morning, exhausted. but i got to listen to Between The Buried And Me on the way to work. it made me happy. nothing like a little progressive thrashcore with your morning coffee.
