Samurai 7 stageplay re-run

Oct 12, 2010 08:35

Good morning, everyone. :D

If you haven't heard yet, it's been announced that there will be a re-run of the Samurai7 stage-play this year. There are a few casting changes, but for the most part, I expect it to be almost identical to the first play (which ran two years ago).

More info~ )

I have been going stark staring BONKERS trying to get my hands on the DVD of this. The only place I know online to buy it is here and Celga says they can't get it for me because of something screwy with website purchasing at this site. Think there's any chance there will be a DVD of this production? I would die of joy to finally see this whole thing.

As far as I know, that site is the only one selling it. My only suggestion is that you try another deputy service. Maybe you can find one that is able to purchase through from the Goma Books site.

Since the production company is the same, I assume that there will indeed be a DVD of this show as well. But chances are that it'll still only be sold through the Goma Books shop. I don't think there will be any announcements until the performances start, so I can't say anything for sure yet.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. The story I get from Celga is that Goma Books can only sell the DVD online, not through email enquiries, but their online payment system isn't working. And that it's been that way for months. It's very frustrating!

Perhaps I should try a different deputy service as you say and see if the story's different.

I just attended the show on Monday (it was a GREAT job done! ^0^/) and yes, there will be a DVD! But it's to be released in April of next year, unfortunately....Such a long wait!!! ><;;

Oh, you were there on Monday? :D I saw it on Sunday (my ticket ended up being FIRST ROW - I flailed so much at the epic closeness). You enjoyed it? There were quite a few changes from the first run, but I was happy for them. The new songs and dances really complemented the updated cast well.

As for the DVD, 5 months is a bit on the long side (the Kuroshitsuji musical is the only other one I've had to wait so long for), but it'll totally be worth it!

I was!!! ^0^ (Though I'll be honest and say that my original intentions for going were for four of my favorite actors being in this stage play together! Though I did become a HUGE Samurai 7 fan afterward. I had started watching the anime beforehand just to make sure I understood the story, and I noticed some of the changes too (:(), but overall I was just....mindblown! It was so good ( ... )

No worries - I went to the play back in 2008 for exactly the same reason. XD I watched the anime before seeing the play, so I knew what to expect when I got there, and then became a fan of the series. ^^;;

I'm glad someone else on here got to see the play as well. It was kinda lonely being one of very few foreigners who saw the first one live. D: Yeah, I am going to the final show. I'll be sure to let everyone know what kind of special things they do, and about their speeches.

I also thought Shouhei was a good Katsushirou, though, honestly, I prefer Shinotani's 2008 Katsushirou. Maybe his just seemed more innocent than Shouhei's. I really can't choose between 2008 and 2010 Kyuuzou, though. Masa (who I saw today in a different musical) is one of my all-time favorite actors, but Nissy did an excellent interpretation of Kyuuzou as well. >_< As for Shichirouji, I highly favor Aiba. *rambles ( ... )

That's awesome!!! *0* Back then, who were the actors you liked?? I love that we had a similar introduction to the anime, then! I think that's so great! I haven't seen the older performance in full--just clips--but it did look very well done! I'm actually a big fan of Shohei and Nissy and Aiba's (as well as Masaya's too), so having those four together in one show had been something I couldn't pass up! I don't know Shinotani-kun (I feel so bad, though I did see some of the clips of his performance! ^^;;;), but I was at least proud of Shohei in that this was his very first stage production and I know he said he was SO nervous about the whole thing. Even on Monday's show he seemed a little nervous--did you get that vibe? I think he's used to playing harsh roles (like Yankee-types) in dramas or in film, so maybe this was very new to him. But did you know he and Masaya were just in Umizaru 3: The Last Message together??? It was funny to see them together in the stage play as Samurai 7 characters now! XDDD ( ... )

Oh, I'm so glad it was a great show! (I feel like I've been waiting SO DAMN LONG, if I could get a copy by April it wouldn't be that horrible a wait from now! But if it's released by the same "and you can't buy it" people, gahhh.)

Is it really!?!? Oh dear goodness...well, I can tell you of a middleman service I use that could definitely get it for you! Even though I'm living in Japan, I still have to use a middleman to purchase tickets and such because I don't have (and don't intend to get) a Japanese bank account. Anyway, usually the Japanese fans get to everything first no matter how early you are anyway! XDDDD

But I really do hope there is a way you can get it! If you need that contact, let me know and I can send you her website and you can check it out. I have used her services multiple times now and I can say she's very very good, albeit slightly pricey! But it might be worth it so you can finally see the show! I'm still mindblown by the whole thing, I love it so much!!! &hearts

I have tried Celga, which could not obtain it, and inquired to YesAsia, which said they couldn't get it. So, yes, I would be delighted to learn about your middleman to see if she can help! PM me if you would like, or my email is amanuensis1 AT earthlink DOT net.

Sure! I have two resources, then, that I can give you, though I will also let you know which is pricier, etc! But just in case one doesn't work, maybe another will!!! I'll send it to you email!!! ^^
