This past Wednesday was our last night of PKE pledging and boy was it interesting...
We had to do a scavenger hunt throughout South Side, so after a 40 minute detour, we ended up at our first destination: Primanti's. Since 99% of the people reading this have no idea what Primanti's is, allow me to explain. Primanti's is a Pittsburgh hot spot, a sandwich place where they put the fries and cole slaw right on top of your sandwich unless you tell them not to. It sounds really gross to anyone who has never tried it before, but it's really good...well, usually. Whenever we go, we usually get the steak or chicken, but since it was a pledging scavenger hunt, we didn't exactly get to eat the most tasty thing on the menu. Let's just say I ate better than half that thing with my one hand by scooping fish and soggy fries out of the bottom of the paper boat it came in. I almost threw it back up,too...it was a sardine sandwich. After that nastiness, we headed off to our ten or so other spots by deciphering clues given at each one. We had to do ridiculous things in front of PKE members and very, very drunk men (since South Side has about a thousand bars...or so it seems anyway). We had to sing "The Elephant Song" on the corner of the street, we had to dance to "Ice Ice Baby" in front of Rumshakers while drunk people watched, we had to feed eachother ice cream blindfolded, eat pie with no hands, do Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and the Chicken Dance blindfolded with handfulls of whipped cream...the list goes on. It was a really long, really tiring, and really really fun night with my pledge group. We totally had the most fun out of everyone.
Formal and initiation are in 2 weeks. I'm trying to fit into any dress I have (since I've become a fatty) so I can lok hot for my sexy date. When it comes to dates, I got the pick of the litter ;-) It's sure to be good times.
This weekend is a three-dayer. We have off Monday for All Saint's Day becuase Catholic schools have the occasional perk. Today, we're going to PSU becuase its crazy down there for Halloween. Tomorrow night, Gretchen is having a party at her place so it's sure to be a good weekend. Yay!
