I love Miniatures, I always loved reading The Borrowers by Mary Norton, and loved the TV series. I think it also helped watching Land of the Giants too, I have a fascination for tiny things, anything miniaturised. So it makes sense for me to collect dolls house miniatures and want to complete my own dolls house. I have lots of little mini’s tucked away in many corners of my home, waiting to be put together. I have a small Resident Evil themed room box project I keep meaning to finish, and I have many miniatures collected for a wizard room I‘m planning, including a Ron Weasley figure and talking pumpkins!
My latest idea is to do a room box of The Borrowers. The Borrowers are tiny people who live in your house ‘borrowing’ what they need from human ‘beans’. So now I’m trying to find items that would do for a miniature person living in a full size home. I have some bottle tops for bowls, pots and pans. I can get some small wooden spoons they could have carved themselves, I’ve seen a lovely basket of grapes which look just like giant blackcurrants, and I already have a small sack of parsnips which look like roots! I am stuck on trying to find some way for them to cook, in The Borrowers they tapped into a gas pipe and did their cooking from that, but I quite fancy the idea of having a makeshift oven using a Tealight candle to cook over. I’m just struggling to think of a full size item they could use as an oven/stove, so they could cook pots over and bake food in. Any ideas anyone?
Here's some gorgoeous mini scenes from
TwigWizardry, I would love to make my mini's look like this:
I recently started following
Casey’s Minis Blog, a blog all about her miniatures, with beautiful images showing her miniature projects step-by-step, with Tessie the dolls house doll helping out! Perhaps I should get some mini dolls to help with my projects? Maybe Ron Weasley can magic me up a cooking stove for my borrowers? But then again, his magic isn’t always that successful! ;)
