Heat's really aggressive and reactive and extremely, what's the word, hotheaded, reacts without thinking about it, so he comes across as not very smart. But... he is. He's probably one of the most perceptive characters on the team (I won't say THE most or anything, Gale's way more analytical etc, but you know). If you go back to Ground Zero after the whole atma thing has come up, Argilla's grieving a little and Heat's telling her, basically, don't come back to places that make you dwell on the past. Whenever a situation comes up that's a trap, Heat's always the one going, hey, something's not right here. (Hell, even at the start, he's the one who's like "look around, this isn't right, they're afraid", and that's... before he's even 'awake'). When the Solids/Bat spring the trap so that they can attack Muladhara for Sera while the officers are away, Heat's the only one who understand what's going on SO FAST that he gets away before he can get trapped, etc, etc. Heat's also -- hilariously -- really sensitive to the feelings of the people around him. When Argilla's starving, he's worrying over it and figuring out solutions (just being, you know, his usual jackass self about it). Half the optional dialogue is him noticing that Sera's not feeling well or something and coming up to try to talk to her about it. LIKE, OKAY, to grab a random example of everyone's random dialogue at one location:
Member of the Embryon: [purple hair] Cyber Shaman? I think I've heard that somewhere before... But I have a feeling it isn't a very good memory.
Gale: I do not know what 'Cyber Shaman' means. It is best to ask Varin directly.
Argilla: I don't know, either. But I feel like I know many things that I shouldn't know.
Sera: Cy...ber... Shaman... Destroys the ... world... I don't... [clutches her head] I ... don't know...
Cielo: No way... Sera could never do such a ting! But, it would be pretty funny if she was dat strong, with her skinny little body!
Heat: Sera, um... Well, you know... Don't push yourself too hard... It's like Lupa said, all we need to do is reach Nirvana... I'll take you there.
Like, there, everyone's talking over Sera's head as she's very quietly freaking out, but Heat's the one who notices how much she's stressing out. He just... fails at expressing it. And that happens more than once.
