Writing meme - Day 7
Day 7 - Do you listen to music while you write? What kind? Are there any songs you like to relate/apply to your characters?
Oh, big fat YES to that. Music = inspiration.
As for the kind, that changes. I rarely intentionally listen to it while I write, I just really like having music in the background.
When it's really pouring outside, I like listening to new age-y stuff - Amiamus mostly, Era, some Enigma or Gregorian chants. Basically, stuff I don't understand ;) What can I say, it clears my mind and helps me concentrate on the idea I'm writing. Of course, once the idea takes hold, I gotta turn the music off. It distracts me.
Other than that, music just grabs me. I don't plan for it, it just happens.
Are there any songs I like to relate/apply to my characters? Well, there are SO many songs that just scream Dean to me. A couple that say Sam. I wrote a story based on an Evenessence album. Seven Days was created because of music. But a specific song? Nah. Only until the next one comes along.
