We got a skip today.
This was a big deal and one we had been putting off because first I and then Mr Wol were laid low with the vicious lurgy and not strong enough to lift a feather. But as DD's birthday party is this Sunday I was determined that the key direction to guests should not be 'The house with the big pile of rubble and crap in the front garden.' So finally we got rid of all the stuff that didn't fit in the last skip - back in late November - and the various bits of kipple left after plumbing upstairs and the footings of the old greenhouse from the back garden. As what was left to go was mostly small rubble and ash this meant much shovelling and just when we were really knackered then we had to knock 7 bells out of the concrete pediments from the greenhouse to get them light enough to lift, let alone carry through the house and sling on a skip. Also whizzed were 4 old bins, no less than 6 sad flabby footballs that had got stuck in the garden over the years (would have been 7 but BB claimed the least flabby and brightest coloured as spoils of war) 1 child's tricycle rusted through underneath (which had to be buried damn quickly before BB saw it and demanded its resurrection) and about a hundredweight of broken tiles. Is tired now! Luckily we moved to a house with a bath and so long soaks are in the offing for after kiddie bedtime tonight. OW!
