Helllooo

Im currently in Ko Samui, we arrived yesterday i think. We spent the last week in Koh Pengang or however you spell it. We just watched the german verus sweedan game and im a little pissed. koh samui is just like Bali. I dont know yet if i like it all not. there are too many tourist here. Koh Tao and Ko Pengang were real "traveller" places, but koh samui is really really touristy, lots of familes here and old people. I have to say that it has the best beaches though out of the 3 islands. The beaches at Haad Rin had stinger things in the water, i kept getting stung all over by some little crazy sea monkey.

ive been reading too many books about thailand (ive ready about 5 books in 2.5 weeks) at the moment which has given me abit of an "off" about thailand in regards to tourists. Ive read Scar Tissue when Tony was talking about Koh Tao and the other islands and then I was reading "the Beach" when I was in Koh Pengang (both books talked about each places), it was weird reading about each places, actually been in the place they were talking about. i could really understand where they were coming from when they were talking about the negatives of the island.

but however it was very beautiful here but decided i am not one of the people that can lay on the beach all day every day. it gets very boring, and considering my white freckly skin i just sizzle in the sunshine, i dont know how all these europeans can lay in the sun all day every day! are they not concerned about skin cancer? they also smoke so much, so maybe not.

I am slowly getting a tan without trying though and my freckles on my face have gotten so much darker!! i will be a giant freckle before i know it!

well i think we will be spending another week or so here before we head up north to chang mai. i am looking forward to do something active each day..

Although today we went and played mini golf and it was the most difficult course EVER. I dont know what they were thinking when they built it. I won the first 9 holes but lost in the last 9. I have never been so hot in my entire life, i had sweat dropplets coming off my forehead, some little thai boy who was about 10 years old bought us cold flannels to cool us off (I never sweat) he laughed at how hot we where! I think it was about 38 degrees celcius today, and we played right at midday! (yes this is exciting us our day gets, we got to the beach then we play stupid games, tomorrow we are going to play ten pin bowling, at least its inside with aircon!!!!!)

We have also been playing alot of pool - i am slowly getting better. I think I have beaten micky at least once or twice...)but micky just beat a pommy guy who was a bit of a pool shark, (he just wrote that)

I bought the wrong lens on my digital camera, I accidently left my 24mm prime on my camera before i left australia. which is very very annoying as there are heaps of photos I want to take but cant zoom in. I am going to buy a new lens when we leave bangkok. i do have my mamiya medium format however but ive actually only taken about 15 pictures so far. The islands in the gulf of thailand are not really what i am interested in photographically.

when we where leaving australia we were worried we were not going to be able to watch any of the soccer, but the thais are soccer mad, every restaurant, every pub, every hotel has a giant screen with the soccer. we have watched the soccer every night almost since we have been away. i wasnt even into the soccer before i left. Im now really into it, and was very gald germany won tonight (I was surrounded by sweedish people, there was me and michael and about 100 sweedes in yellow tops all around us and there was only 3 germans in the pub.. i had to give them some support!)

well catcha all later, will write again soon!
