The peas have died back in favor of the more prolific beans. The tomatoes have sent several volunteers to act as sheriff in each of the sections. More importantly, the garden has sent out the cantelope vine to search for more land. It has bypassed the unwatchful sentry of the lily, circumvented the stone tower of the bird bath and has attached itself to the burning bush near the bird feeder patio. It is also invading the lawn through the lemon balm stand. This is response, no doubt, to my chatisement of it last week to give the peppers more room to grow.
