A (soul) day in the life
The SF hotel where I woke up after a great night's sleep in a very comfy big bed with snow white linens.
I went to the fitness center at 6 am (due to time differences) and had a good workout before showering. I check my schedule as I am working at this scientific conference.
I select my cothing for the day: my favorite "honu" shirt from Hawai'i, my alaskan necklace,
and my favorite "kitties on clouds" socks.
I had a cup of Peet's decaf coffee with cinnamon and a chocolate croissant. I saw this church outside my 20th floor window:
So I went to visit it. I love architecture and the church did not disappoint.
This is St. Patrick's Catholic Church, historical landmark sandwiched between 30+ stories tall skyscrapers. Inside was a tribute to iconography. I sat for 30 minutes and saoked up the atmosphere. The stained glass of saints was remarkable.
I found a little bakery/deli and bought some SF sourdough baguette, cheese and greens with an iced tea and sat in the park with pidgeons.
I went to some technical sessions and listened to knowledge roll over me. My friend, Jetty, joined me for some more fun.
First we visited the aquarium of the bay. We were allowed to pet the manta rays. They were quite "tame" and the docent said that they will come up and look at folks as well as swim along to be petted.
Thence to Golden Gate Park via some other tourist attractions. This picture is from the end of Fisherman's Wharf on the site of an old army camp up on a hill overlooking the docks.
Dinner was at the Beach House, oceanside, where we sat at the window overlooking the beach. We could see the bonfires. I had a local, organic meal of beef, green beans, and potatoes.
For dessert with coffee, there was a special treat: chocolate sandcastle with a starfish.
We top off the celebration of my soul day with gorgeous WPA art depicting the women of SF:
A fantastic day.
