firstly happy birthday katie!! xx
been a weird couple of weeks - i had the flu and a throat infection at the same time, had a mega course of antibiotics and kind of got better, but it still meant i couldnt do anything for over 10 days, it was really annoying. Was feeling crap but had booked train tickets to go visit my aunt in the north of scotland so went anyway. On the way back the train took over an hour longer than it should have done because of all the snow! Some of the villages the train passed through could have easily been in the alps - surrounded by mountains and snow everywhere, sometimes at least a foot on all the rooves etc. very cool. and cold!
finally started felling better by the middle of last week, so went to go see the flat we were thinking of renting. its a really nice flat, so close to vet school and got all the stuff we need. so we decided to take it, which is cool means i have a place to live next year. had to choose bedrooms, very cool because my bedroom is huuuuuge! it is about 3 times the size of mine at the moment (and mines a normal uni size bedroom), cant wait to have more space. Also my bedroom has a double bed and a walk-in wardrobe, so very pleased! also i cant wait to have a bath and sofas! (our flat at the moment is small because theres only 3 of us and therefore retarded and has neither!).
got a stats exam on friday, which isnt fun, but hopefully shouldnt be too bad. then as soon as thats over i'll be on the train home. but only back for 6 days coz then got to go lambing for 3 weeks. and 3 weeks means 7am-7pm shifts working on the farm 7 days a week. OH MY GOD, how the hell am i going to be able to drag myself out of bed to start work at 7am for 21 days in a row?!?!
been pretty standard uni stuff really. had one really cool practical last week where we basically put ourselves under really weird conditions to see how it affected our breathing. Sounds fairly standard, it really isnt - i got connected to computers to monitor all my vitals, a mounthpiece fitted to the amount of air i was breathing in and my breathing rate etc etc were recorded. One of the things i had to do was use a bag (carrier bag size or slightly smaller) 1/3 filled with oxygen and only used that to breathe with. obviously at first its really easy to breathe as theres so much oxygen, but after a couple of minutes the co2 concentration really builds up and breathing gets really really laboured. its so strange because you always think you have some control over your breathing, but you really dont - no matter how hard i tried to take shallow breathes i couldnt. managed to keep it up for over 5 minutes without passing out, which was quite an achievement, but then they decided i was likely to pass out and not wake up for a wee while if i didnt get some oxygen, so let me breathe air, it was the most amazing air ive ever tasted
at the moment im trying to find anything that means i can avoid doing work for stats, have to see what i can come up with to do now. hmm
see u all soon xxxxxx
