That's right. I'm right in the middle of my second week in Gunnison Colorado. So far everything is going okay. The first week was a little rocky as far as money, and Carrie and I didn't get along to well. I think the whole move out here was very stressful for both of us, but we're doing alright now. The scenery out here is amazing. We're right in the middle of a big valley surrounded by the mountains. The climate is actually desert. It's very warm in the day and very chilly at night. All the surrounding foothills are covered with sandy dirt and sage. We're about 15 miles from a huge lake called Blue Mesa, which is a 27 square mile man made lake that flooded two whole towns when it was made. The town of Gunnison is a small college town that really reminds me a lot of Bloomington. The people are really nice, except our neighbors. Actually, our neighbors are very generous but very very annoying. Our roommate is very nice, and she went out on a limb to go ahead and let us live here without even meeting us first. Her boyfriend is also nice, and thanks to me he's now addicted to Virtual Boy. Our closest neighboring town is Crested Butte, which is a really upper class town. It's about 25 miles away and it actually up in the mountains. It's amazing up there. Our house is a nice little quad, and our portion is a little three room basement with a kitchen and bathroom. We have a hot tub. Nice. We're about a block away from Carries aunt. She got us hooked up with the house and our jobs. I work at a little deli called The Fire Brand, and Carrie works at a thrift store called The Boom-A-Rang. She just got transferred to another store with the same owner called Old School. She's making more money there. We bike to our jobs, which is pretty much what everyone in this town does. We work a lot but we play a lot too. There's a lot to do in Gunnison if you're willing. I spend a lot of time at the skate park, and I'm getting much better. There's also a lot of places to go rafting and swimming and hiking and biking and rock climbing. I'm going to post lots of pictures here so everyone can get an idea of what this place is really like. I'll also be updating a lot here, so check often if you're interested. You can keep in touch with me here by posting comments. If you don't have an account with Livejournal you can only post anonymous comments, so just put your name in there so I know who you are. I can also reply to comments and you'll get a notice in your email. Alrighty, I'm outta here, I hope everything is going well back home. I'll talk to you soon.
