I bought a book or two at the library book sale on dog behavior.  Seeing as dogs are the only children I am likely to have, I would like to understand them better, I guess.  In chapter 1, I came across this passage:

I've been off LJ for about a week, as I was madly running about trying to meet grant deadlines, move my office, and a bunch of other stuff that hit at once.  But I'm back for a few days and then I head up to Vermont and New Hampshire for our annual family reunion and an early celebration of my Mom's 70th birthday.
