From what I understand, the comic book was used as the story board! Finally, someone gets it!

Frank Miller did the comic and he is one of the directors, so he had a clear hand in crafting the look and staging. It takes a few minutes to get into the flow of the movie...its staged almost like a play, with set pieces and soliloquies with the audience. The dialogue sounds a little stilted at first, but that's because its highly stylized and noirish. Once you "get it", the movie takes off
