I admit it. My fanfiction obsession has waned. It’s not necessarily a lack of good stuff out there, except for the fact that one can only read so many Edward/Bella honeymoon fics… Besides, come on…
(get ready for some nastiness... sorry...)
I admit. I read these for the sex. There’s that sick part of me that wants to know WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED. But, dammit, I have my own theories, and many fanfics don’t completely match up… They started in the water because it would be less likely for Edward to be tempted by blood once her barrier was broken. And the first night, he was on top, ‘nuff said. The night where Bella took over, she was on top -- that’s why it worked out. And when they were finally in the cottage, well, no holds barred there… And as awesome as swearing is, I don’t think that either one of them would have gotten all porn-y the first few times. They were virgins!! This is Edward - Mr-born-in-1901-and-has-never-uttered-such-language-before-a-lady… Anyways… getting off the nasty box here.
And as for my other original ship, Harry and Ginny - i still love them to pieces, but I think that once Deathly Hallows part 1 comes out, I’ll be more inclined. It’s not that people aren’t still writing good stories -hell, my
instapaper (rss feed but use it for the links) is chock full of them, it’s that I don’t even have the time anymore. (note, I have read the stories in instapaper - and they were marked specifically for future reference for this blog… but I simply haven’t gotten there yet… Hopefully some day soon… Hey, I have 4 kids and a full time job… :)
Why? Because of Zynga. Thanks to stupid Farmville and Mafia Wars, I’m too busy harvesting crap before it wilts or collecting and sending out stupid windows for my Maison. I tried to go cold turkey for a couple days. That ended with me starting in petville. AHHH!!
But the real obsession… started just a few weeks ago. I had 1 credit for audible.com and was debating on what book to use it on. My friend suggests that we could listen to a book together, and that she was going to read Diana Gabaldon’s
Outlander next. So she checks out the audiobook from her local library, and I from mine (was not yet convinced to waste that precious credit…). I failed to recognize that I have the ability to read books faster than her, even in audio format, as my job is pretty flexible that way. She failed to recognize that the book she checked out was the god-forsaken ABRIDGED version. Blaspheme. Eventually we get her the Unabridged version, but by then I had finished said book.
This gets even better:
- I went to the library in hopes of checking out book 2. Was not available in either audio or paper. Damn.
- Went to local bookstore, and they didn’t even have book 1 or book 2 (book 3 & 4, no prob). So, ordered said books (paper) since they would be in within the week.
- Then proceeded to go home and use that precious credit for book 2.
Now my dilemma is that since I’ve finished the audio of book 2, and about halfway through re-reading book 1 (paper), I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3. ARGH!!! Should I discipline myself in first finishing the re-reads of book 1 and 2?
Ugh, this was soo much easier with HP and Twilight when I had to WAIT MONTHS for the next damn book.
And here’s the big shocker: No Vampires. I’m slowly making progress.
