beanage

I must confess that I've never been able to make beans at home that I really liked. They seem to turn out rather bland and tasteless, in spite of my following the recipes!

I've been reading a bean blog (it sounds funny, but it has cool recipes and such from a local farmer who is passionate about beans.)

Last week I even made black beans according to the neat-o little youtube video they made on how to do it right. The beans turned out better than they have in the past- but I wouldn't say they were flavorful. I can only imagine what they add, but I could eat processed beans right out of the can.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to cook beans well? I'd really like to do more of my own at home- I hate how expensive canned beans are.
