How long a minute is depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on.
Well it has been a while, and at the same time a lot has happened, and almost nothing at the same time.
I started working in the Oil Sands Patch, which is north of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. I'm up here as stand by medical support. And as I have mentioned before, very boring, yet very well paying.
As for the things that have happened let me make a list.
1st: On my first day on the job, myself and my partner (working) were driving the MTC (Mobile Treatment Centre - aka: a pickup with a specially outfitted camper on the back) and the transfer truck from Calgary to Fort Mac (800km give or take) when a scant 100 km from our destination, I got into an accident. In the MTC. Oh yeah. I hit some black ice, drove off the road and hit a tree with the only thing going though my mind was, "why me?" over and over again. I was fine, not even sore the next day.
2nd: On arrival to Fort Mac, we, myself and my partner, found out that we were staying in town and the job site was three hours away. Oh yeah, you guessed right. 12 hrs on site plush six hours travel every day. Do the math and think severe sleep deprivation. For a month. Very...well I dont have a word for it, something between scary and numb. and well paying.
3rd: My truck (personal) has died. I am now without a personal vehicle when I go home, which isn't very often, but...I cried none the less.
4th: Stupid people getting hurt. Last year I did this as well, and I filled out one first aid report the whole time. In a month I have filled out a dozen and sent three people to hospital. They can't complain about the medics being lazy anymore.
5th: My computer died! AWWWWW! I had ordered a new dell (in love!) however it took three weeks to get to me. Three weeks with out my computer! can you say withdrawl? (shakes, panic attacks...)
So thats been my life for the last few months. However, I now have a decent internet connection up here so maybe I'll start updating more frequently. Maybe...
