 And before I go to bed, here's a rant about Arthur and Eames that I wrote while my brain was breaking (not drunk or high or anything, just overworked and sleep-deprived).  It kind of shows.  I wouldn't recommend reading this, actually.

WARNING: run-ons, lack of capitalization, general incoherency )

Yessssss, good point about the grenade launcher! I can see how people would label that as pigtail-pulling, but I can't help but see it as a show-off-y reaction to Arthur's general frustration. Like, competitive in the sense that footballers on the same team might act during practice.

Heh, I bet there's a handbook out there that says how one should deal with snipers. I wonder if 'get another sniper' is an accepted tactic...

Classy! Yes. That is the right word for it. And I keep getting distracted by that scene where they're hanging out in the hotel level and trying to figure out how to get Fischer under.

What's that. Is Cobb checking in with Eames, because Eames basically planned the whole thing and is very, very smart? Are they having a bro moment, or a professional one (bros before pros...? v.v.?)? Does Eames's face go from 'Heh' to serious because he is worried that Cobb is too much like a crazy person?

Oh, Arthur... your description there is spot on, I think. 'distant ruthless paragon of logic' is also a very nice combination of words.

Hah, Eames's glorious matching socks. Love them. And, okay, I've a bit of a predilection for patterns- I met a guy at an airport wearing this and, apparently, had to take a photo of it.

Yep, writing rants like this tend to help me unwind, especially when I'm trying to write something. The Matrix AU is definitely still happening, even if it's like trying to hug a wolverine at this point. And bouncing ideas off of you (read: flailing about with questions and getting amazing, well thought-out responses) is incredibly helpful, thanks so much.

You're better than me :P I can't even quite place it as pigtail pulling. I saw it as complete, frustrated condecension and one-upmanship.

Because we all know wikipedia is awesome: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counter-sniper_tactics

Looks like the duel of the snipers is normally the answer, except that Arthur was getting pinned. Mostly because they were working under time constraints, and Arthur didn't have as ideal cover as the other sniper did. If you saw, he kept having to break out from behind the door, fire a few shots, and dive for cover again, while the other sniper was constantly shooting from cover.

So Eames did the tried and tested technique - mortar strike. Well, fine, grenade launcher. Destroy the area to either flush out the sniper or kill the sniper.

...doesn't help that in Band of Brothers, most of the time, they deal with snipers by calling for the mortars to take out the sniper's position and presumably killing the sniper. I think I only remember one sniper duel in the show ;)

That shirt is awesome. I love the patterns ;___;

LOL, np. It's fun discussing stuff lol, and it's awesome to know the Matrix AU is definitely happening ;) I could use some good fic!
