Me: Congrats on your report card, sweetie.
J, age 14: Congrats? But I got a B!
Me: One. But the rest were A's. That's fantastic.
J: A B!!
Me: ...
J: Just kidding. It's okay. You know there are some kids whose parents freak out if they get a B. Why is that? It's so crazy.
Me: Because they think their kid's whole future is riding on that grade.
J: And it's not!
Me: Of course not.
J: Actually, it's riding on the semester grade.
