To paraphrase Aislin:

LIFE IS MADE OF AWESOME.

Because, you see, some pretty damn awesome things have happened to me lately. The biggest and most important of these is: I AM ON HORMONES.

I went up to the doctor's office on Wednesday night to talk to, well, one of the doctors. He's known for being open about trans stuff, which of course, means that every transperson in Calgary that can see him does. (Sort of. Anyway.) So I went up there as a walk-in, and when he saw me, I told him what was going on - my visit to Edmonton, transition, the initial reluctance of Dr. Warneke to put me on estrogen, etc. (For the record, the reluctance came from not having gotten a letter from my psychologist.) So we talked for a bit, and he wrote me up a lab requisition for blood work, which I expected. Then he wrote me a prescription. I was not expecting this.

Me: "Uh... do you want me to wait until I get the blood work done to take these?"
Him: "Well, if you do the blood work and the numbers are really bad, the lab will tell us right away, and we'll call you the same day. So there's really no reason for you not to take them."

So as of Wednesday night, I am HORMONAL. And unlike the usual definition of women being hormonal, I am the happiest, most mood-stable woman I know. It is teh win.

Other good stuff has been happening, too. My work has decided to bring in this new training program that basically fast-tracks people to be trained for different specialized positions. Like being a business analyst. You know, the job I ACTUALLY want at that company. And because I have way more experience than most people on the floor, I have a pretty good chance of getting in. So I might be getting promoted sooner than I thought. Which is also teh win.

And, I'm considering a different degree: Commerce. There are a whole bunch of reasons for this, including that a) economics is more interesting than I initially thought, b) math isn't as bad as I initially thought (yes, Linds, you can now return all the mocking I did when you said you enjoyed your accounting courses), and c) commerce degrees mean corporate jobs, which mean MONEY. And while I consider myself a socialist on a moral level, I do like teh monies.

So, to reiterate: LIFE IS MADE OF AWESOME.

(New icon, too!)
