so this morning i was SUPPOSED to catch the greyhound *shudders* to the st. louis airport to catch a flight home to go to my uncle's wedding on saturday, but it all went to shit in a matter of seconds.
i got to the train station at 9am (an hour and fifteen minutes before the bus was supposed to leave) and waited til the bus came which ended up being around a quarter to eleven. so that kind of set things rolling a bit. when the bus pulled up, the driver got out and said that there were three seats left and that it was "first come first serve," which really means first to the door wins. so, three people that hadn't been there as long as i had, rushed to the door (one of which, had been there for about 15 minutes!!!). the seven of us left to find our way to wherever we were going went across the street to get the ticket agent to help sort this out the bus driver told the ticket agent that we could ride if we stood but said that he didnt want to be responsible if anything was to happen to us (which makes sense). so we walked back to the ticket office and for time's sake the agent said she'd be responsible for us if anything happened. she started writing this out so we could all sign it, and while we were doing that, the bus driver PULLED AWAY AND LEFT THE SEVEN OF US STRANDED HERE IN CARBONDALE!!!! this got me in a mood of pissed off and freaking out that i don't think i've been in before.
so the seven of us and the ticket agent tried finding ways to get to where we were headed. (keep in mind that at this point it's about 11am and my flight LEFT at 4:42pm) all of the options i could have taken would get me to STL after my flight left. the only option was to rent a car, and i'm not 25, i dont have a credit card, and i'm insured under my dad's name. just the trifecta i DIDN'T want to hit.
SO, i went back to my room to find other flights and to call up some friends to see if i could bum rides with them b/c the marching band is going to STL tomorrow. i did find a flight that leaves tomorrow night from STL at about 8:20pm and would get to seattle at around 10:35pm (pacific standard time). so i called american airlines to see if i could change my reservation to that flight etc., and it IS possible. it's just going to cost an extra 325 bucks. now, i dont know about you, but i would much rather be short around 300 bucks than spending just shy of 700 bucks for me to come home for a day and a half. it just doesnt make that much sense to me. and i'm slowly begining to accept the fact that i probably will not be able to go to the wedding because of that asshole bus driver (it's really hard for me NOT to swear in this blog right now, and i'm trying REALLY hard not to).
one thing that IS helping a little is that it is raining outside with some thunder here and there and i am listening to the best music for rainy days... Sigur Ros.
that's all for now.
