All the gifts were recovered and brought back to the house, Christmas dinner had been finished and eaten because going medieval on a green dude's ass was hungry work and now everyone was gathered back in the living room for the gift exchange.

"So," Dean said, eyeing the tree with a big grin. "Who goes first?"

While they watched the gift opening and proposing, Dean said casually to his brother, "So I got a phone call last night. Or this morning... one of those so late it's early deals."

Dean wasn't about to say it was becuase he'd wanted to hear Alec laugh and that was a sure way of doing it. "Well I wasn't about to tell him about the plague and people dying over the phone," he said instead.
