Have decided work is completely insane, because eight months should theoretically be long enough to sort stuff out but somehow everything's confused enough that we're missing $11,000 worth of food when at any given point there's about $1,000 worth in the back room. I seem to have picked up the basics of the accounting I have to do, albeit slowly and a little lazily; I tend to throw $200 at the drawer, cram the cash owed in an envelope, and slip the difference into the tip jar, as long as I'm not going over CC tips. I end up with a huge pile of pennies every day-- I've been working I think nine days of the last ten, because one of our cashiers was stupid and took an unannounced trip to Europe. Further proof that work is insane: a) I am to be on the lookout for anyone smoking any more pot in the walk-in fridge, and b) they've given me a key. If Starbuck's is hiring I'm going to keep my eyes open. Hey, Seattle people, ease my pain! Come swing by in Fremont (we're right next to Peet's and PCC, across from the bridge) and see me!

To switch subjects, I've begun watching Heroes and Dead Like Me. Heroes is so far pretty awesome, and I'm bowled over by the characters of Hiro and Peter in particular. For Hiro, it's a mix between being a stereotypical loser being unusually sweet and idealistic, not to mention Japanese and therefore tied in to my heritage, and for Peter it's the excessively dorky reason that Heathre identifies with him and my girlfriend makes me go weak in the knees. Plus he's a sweetheart, which fits in with that "Peter is Heathre" theme.

Of course, I identify with George from Dead Like Me (deadpan bitchy 18-year-old girl who hates her job? Yes, this is why I bought this show). Aren't we a romantic couple.

So I work another shift tomorrow (the morning shift, the 10-4:30 round), which is bad because it's longer than usual and I have to get up early and work with Seth, the deadpan sorta scary boss guy, but also good because it's the really high-tipping busy shift and it's my last shift until Saturday.

Speaking of which, I really should be asleep but life doesn't appear to work like that.

(... Oh God, a bug just flew up my nose.)

this is a kissing book, disorder and chaos, heathre, sleep/rika ofp, equivalencies, indie rock sandwich shop, fandom
