Friday the Thirteenth-- in October!

Oct 13, 2006 19:41

I'm feeling a bit gypped, as everyone else seems to have today off but I don't. Oh well. I get next Wednesday off and I might get a Peri tomorrow, so it's all good. Also, 6th Hill fashion show tonight, and they're doing their bowling-ball thing.

Today in Latin my teacher started translating people's names spur-of-the-moment. I thought I had him trumped-- I mean, how on earth is anyone going to translate my Dutch-Japanese-Hungarian-Flemish-French-German name? But he did. Amara Pristina. That's me in Latin. (Amazingly, "Josh" is "Salus.") It made me squee. (Another Latin thing that made me squee: Carl Linne, the Swedish Latinophile who invented the botanical Latin binomial system. I had no idea Aloysius and Diogenes Pendergast's father was named after him-- he called himself Carolus Linnaeus, apparently. *dork*)

I did study, though not everything, and! I am feeling moderately prepared for my geography quiz today!

And I managed to get up on time, omfg.

The only dark spot to the day so far is that I think I lost my copy of Archangel but it's possibly behind my bed. meteorspark? If we meet up this weekend, I'm giving you your Preston and Child books back, and I expect my Brite in return.

And I bought blindmadness a copy of the romance novel Gabriel's Woman via Amazon and now I can't wait to read this thing. Maj, send it to me? XD

books, latin, college, peri, maja, fandom, etc.
