The walk back to the hut from the beach wasn't a particularly long one, but it seemed somehow longer, Alex's head spinning as she tried again to process everything, to keep all the facts straight in her head. After two months here, she had begun to grow accustomed to the idea of people coming from different universes, but this was something else entirely. A Juliet who looked and sounded exactly the same, who seemed to be having weird flashes of memories of the island but with a different history altogether, one that involved other people she had known, it was too weird to be believed, except she didn't doubt a word of it. She just didn't know how it could be possible. Having taken it upon herself, then, to find out as much as she could without attracting suspicion, she set out to do the only thing that seemed sensible: tell her father. At the very least, it could be worth knowing.
"Hey, Dad?" she said without any other preamble after walking in and closing the door behind her, finding him sitting with a book. "Are you busy, or can we talk?" Her tone, casual, was one that she hoped wouldn't suggest anything wrong, things being as precarious as they were between the two. She had meant it when she'd said that she was willing to give this a try, to give him a chance, but she doubted that theirs was a relationship that would ever be wholly comfortable. Coming to him with this, maybe, could be a step in the right direction.
