Then she yells at you and you yell back FINE and the dishes are being washed woops hands in the water too long they start to burn. But this time you don't pull them out quickly, you feel that sting then oh dear you spilt some water over the side when your hand slipped out from the veil of bubbles. Drip drip drip the water keeps on flowing and you know you should clean it up because she'll come back and keep yelling but you can't look away because there's that water drip drip drip. Then she comes back in and you quickly grab a towel and mop up the mess because you can't let her see you transfixed, no because then she'd see the real you. We can't let that happen oh no oh no because she's only your mother and mothers can't see their daughters. They only see the chipped nailpolish on short bitten nails and the messy hair and the weight problems. They only see the mood swings and the untidy room and the death metal and the person they don't want there. And once or twice you try to let her in but then she throws it right back at you kapow like playing tennis with a pro, it doesn't even land in her court. It's right back to you and you know there's no point in letting her see so you just mop it up and watch your hands as they're slowly submerged under the soapy water.
Why don't you just use the dishwasher?
