i don't even think i wanted july as much as i want january.

also, if i did the math correctly, i am making almost as much money before taxes this semester as i did in two semesters before taxes in north carolina. perhaps i could get used to teaching 6 classes?

i just finished grading everything i have to give back my students. this is excellent.

i still have a lot to do, but the clouds have cleared. i can see the sun.

what's left:

1. grade reflection papers and add to blackboard
2. run post-test
3. fix pretest scores so i can read them

i've been grading research papers since 11am. i have two more left in one class before i move on to another class. the one i am currently reading is making me want to stab myself in the eye with my purple pen.

my last day of class is April 28. right now i feel as bad as my students. i just want it to be over. yesterday i had to bribe myself to grade their presentations. the bribe involved potato chips while grading and wine once i had graded enough. i suspect i will have the same trouble tonight. and that class i am TAing? those kids are driving me up ( Read more... )

a bunch of boys dancing in the parking lot. they all know the steps and perform them in unision. trunk open, windows down. snoop dog rattles the campus. and there's me wishing that more days teaching at an hbcu looked like this.
