Who: Himuro and anyone! What: There's a teacher in town! Hide the kids! When: Midday Where: Park, going into town Warnings: None, except for tooth-rotting fluff if coco sees this.
Atem had other things to do and take care of- but at least for now that stupid voice over event had ended. He wasn't really sure how much more of that he could have taken. But it was behind him now and he had to get back into his regular schedule.
It didn't really help that it was freezing outside. When would the island go back to spring? He'd really like that.
With the sparse number of people around it wasn't hard to take one look at the man standing in the middle of town and realize he was new. New... So Kia was still up to something. He wasn't sure if that was good or bad news yet. And out of all the people brought here this man looked-
Normal. Very normal compared to the rest of them. Hell, even compared to himself. But looks could be deceiving he knew. He looked around trying to gauge how much he could get up to before stepping forward.
Himuro was still caught up in his thoughts, so it took him a-albeit brief-moment before he turned to the voice, finding a young man approaching him. So people were out and about in this town after all, thank goodness. The first thing that he took notice of was his wild hair, which to him stood out like a red beacon against all of the white. He couldn't help but raise a brow at the young man. What was it with the kids these days and their crazy hair?
Clearing his throat, Himuro brought out his other hand to straighten his tie before placing them both back in the pockets, and turned to the approaching man. His usual indifferent facade was on his face rather than the confused and somewhat hurt expression he had a moment ago.
Just because he has a girlfriend (who he was missing very much) did not mean that he was no longer the famous hard-ass math teacher of Habataki Academy.
"I seem to have gotten lost..." Although I'm not sure how I did to begin with. He stopped himself from finishing that statement, lest he look like a complete fool
( ... )
It didn't take much to notice he was being stared at- unfavorably at that. He held back a scowl of his own. His nerves were frayed enough, he didn't really need to be judged. His expression remained calmly neutral despite all of this, but one of his hips did shift outward slightly. Usual stance.
"Let me guess, you were somewhere else one minute and the next you're here." His tone was as flat as could be.
Well, that answered some questions. It seemed as though he wasn't the only one that was brought here randomly. At least he wouldn't sound like a complete fool saying 'yes'. He still hesitated in answering the question, since this whole situation seemed foolish and unbelievable to begin with, like a bad dream.
"...One would say. I'm assuming there are others here in the same predicament?" His tone was just as equally flat, though it held a professional tone to it. It was quite obvious that this man was a strict, no-nonsense type of person.
Another slight shift as his arms moved up to tuck across his stomach. He looked around to see if anyone else was out today. It would at least help prove his point a little. Although the man seemed to be handling it pretty well, all things considered.
"All of us are. If you're on this island you were kidnapped." That's really all there was to it. Oh except- "And there's no way off, either."
Was he really supposed to believe that? I mean, in all honesty, was he supposed to?
"'Kidnapped'..." It was pretty obvious that he didn't believe what he had just said. There was hardly an explanation offered as to how or why they were "kidnapped" onto this island and with what was offered, he just about believed it as much as he believed in superstition.
"Considering I don't feel any after effects from any form of struggle, how am I expected to believe that I was kidnapped?" He'll need more than three curt sentences for him to even think about believing this whole situation.
The only thing was that it wasn't Atem's problem if this man didn't believe him. He knew it could be a struggle in accepting it, and he really didn't have any proof on hand. That would only come later once Kia decided to show up again. So he just rolled his shoulders back in a shrug.
Leveling a strong gaze at the man, "Either you will or you won't. But you'll understand eventually." At least one more thing came to mind. "You don't happen to have a key on you, or this?" He asked digging his LP out of his pocket and producing it for the other to look at.
The gaze did nothing to cause Himuro to retreat. If anything, it made him glad that he had run into someone with some intellectual sense, however vague they may be with their details. He responded to the others response with a simple "Very well..." before looking at his watch.
...10 minutes late. Ayu was probably becoming worried considering his car was still there.
He noticed the other pull out a cellular device and became confused. Of course he had a cell phone, but what use was it if it didn't have any reception? And he didn't have any keys on his immediate person; he had left his car and house keys in the ignition of his car, expecting to return to it after a minute of waiting. He dug around, pulling out the useless phone from his coat pocket and--
Wait. What the...?
Himuro hummed in confusion as he pulled out a device that looked exactly like the others and a small key from his other pocket. He frowned in confusion.
Well that was good. He had a place to stay. Sometimes others didn't have immediate housing, which would have been bad in this weather. He nodded, glad to see both items.
"The LP connects you to the NETWORK with all the other residents living here. That key will let you into your place to stay." Obviously, but it needed to be said. The other looked like he didn't really want to understand any of this. An easy thing to fall into. No one liked to be he here.
The key's use was pretty obvious for him to figure out so he didn't really need the explanation. The LP, however... How did these things end up in his pocket? He would've noticed them for sure while he was walking, unless the air was colder than he assumed. Putting the key back in his pocket, he pressed a button on the "LP," bringing up an obnoxious welcome screen with a message attached to it. He'd have to ask the other how this device better functions; there were buttons on it that he wouldn't see on a typical cell phone.
And if this deice could really connect with the other residents here... Hmm, maybe he could...
" 'Apartment A:11'... I'm assuming that's where I'll be staying?" he asked. His tone was so obviously incredulous. Himuro was still very much confused and was leaning closer and closer to believing that this may all be a dream.
It couldn't be too far-fetched, right? He's had stranger realistic dreams before.
Atem wouldn't have blamed him, really. Madotsuki had been in the favor that this was all a dream as well- that had ended in suicide. He really hoped that didn't happen this time around. Still, either the man would acknowledge it or he wouldn't. Only time would tell.
He nodded. "Ah. The apartment complex isn't too far from here. ...do you have a roommate listed?" A: 11.. that actually was just down the hall from him. Well, at least this man didn't seem to be the annoying type. He could certainly tolerate him as a neighbor.
Himuro blinked at the question. A roommate...? Goodness, he hadn't lived with anyone since he first became a teacher; would he be able to tolerate having a roommate? Well... he only hoped that if he did have a roommate, that they weren't obnoxious or anything of the sort.
Himuro looked to the device again, rereading the message. Sure enough, there was a name listed with the apartment number: "Ichijouji Ken."
A small nod. "I'm sure you'll be fine then." If it had been any one of the more eccentric characters of the island, Atem might have felt bad for him. But Ken was a nice kid. Smart. Quiet.
Judging by the tone of his voice, Himuro guessed that his roommate was manageable. Thank goodness, he didn't want to deal with any eccentric folk living under the same roof as he did. Masuda was enough. Himuro looked up at his question. He took a moment to think.
"A few." He may have quite a few questions, but one question had been nagging at him for quite a bit. It was a bit of a stretch asking it, since the probability wasn't on his side, but... "I'm assuming you've been here for quite some time. Are you... knowledgeable about the residents here as well?"
Quite some time was an understatement. But it wasn't the man's fault. Even being here wasn't. So there was no reason to get upset over it. He just nodded a little blankly, because what else more could he say to that? His gaze was still fixed, though. Eye contact was always important.
He knew everyone here, huh? Well, that boosted his confidence. If he did know everyone here, then there was a chance that he'd know if she was here as well. His own eye contact faltered for a moment as he willed himself into asking the question.
"Then... you wouldn't happen to know if--" His voice got caught for a moment. He cleared his throat of the accursed lump before continuing, "...if there is a young woman named Aoki Ayu here, would you?"
He braced himself for the answer, ready for either a positive or negative response...
It didn't really help that it was freezing outside. When would the island go back to spring? He'd really like that.
