It got monotonous in the arcade office with the door closed. It made Kaiba miss his office in Domino. Though it was still a lot of coding there, there were also meetings, and plenty of little people to step on. Here, they weren't even worth stepping on. They also seemed relatively non-committal with their gaming habits, something that Kaiba was not happy with at all. He'd get bursts of crowds, then nothing, very unlike the regular gamers you'd see in the arcade at home. It had thrown off his profit projections in the beginning, which had added to his frustration with the whole Island.
Now, he knew better with his profit projections, but it made budgeting for the month nearly impossible. Fund intake fluctuated so much between months, he had no idea what he was going to have by the end of it, or what the Island would do to disrupt it. Kaiba growled at the spreadsheet on his computer, frustrated. How on earth was anyone supposed to run a business under these conditions?!
He was so deeply involved in what he was doing, that he hardly heard any of the noise from the machines in the front of the shop...or even anything else in the room with him.
