He closed the umbrella and shook it. He took his shoes off the door. All of them just motions. His ears pressed against his head. No... rain wasn't that bad. It could get you sick of course but he wasn't too worried about. He thanked Lelouch for letting him in and wondered for a moment where to place the umbrella.
"Are you living with Suzaku-san again? And something to drink would be nice thank you."
He did as he was instructed and his ears perked. Subaru... the name was somewhat familiar. Ritsuka didn't really care though. He wondered why Suzaku or Lelouch always seemed to end up rooming together. Then again he had always ended up being with Youji and Natsuo so there wasn't that much difference.
"Tea is fine thank you," he said as his tail flicked to get rid of some of the water from the rain. "How have you been?"
"Good," he lied. Lying was relatively easy. He lied all the time so this wasn't really anything new. He took the towel and patted down his tail and ears. "It... was nice going to Disneyland. I never went to the one in Japan. And they had Japanese translators. No one looked at my ears funny," because everyone thought they were fake. He rather have that than anything else.
"It's nice to be-" be what? Home? This wasn't home for Ritsuka. He was stuck here while most people he got close to left or grew apart from him. "It's nice to be somewhere-" he sighed and realized he couldn't even say "it's nice to be somewhere stable." Ritsuka's ears pressed against his slightly damp hair. "It's less exhausting having to travel yeah."
"My mother and brother are back home," and Soubi. "All my friends..." he sighed and looked away. "It isn't that..." it wasn't that he wouldn't miss Lelouch and the others. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He should have stuck with lying. His ears pressed against his head and his tail drooped.
"Youji and Soubi are gone..." he said as he just willed a hole to appear in the floor with hie gaze.
"I've been here over a year. I've been here since people were even on this stupid island!" he pressed his palm to his eyes. "A whole year." His fingers curled. "And I can't... It isn't fair." Ritsuka shook his head. "It doesn't matter." He wasn't getting off this island.
It hurt less trying to pretend it didn't matter. If he didn't pretend... he had to face he was never getting off the island. And ha had faced it multiple times. Sometimes he could go months forgetting about the situation. And then something would happen to slap him in the face. Youji, Soubi, Ichiru, Mukuro, Seimei especially. He almost expected the island to bring his mother on the island. If his mother came on the island... Ritsuka knew no one understand his mother but as soon as his mother proved she might get better or happy, she'd go home. And Ritsuka would still be here. He knew it.
