Sasuke took slow steps toward Chrome, giving her the chance to change her mind before he reached her. It was probably pointless to do so, as they had agreed to try everything, but it was a chance for her to put this off until later. Never mind the fact that they wanted to have this done as quickly as possible.

But Chrome did NOT want to run away, or change her mind, in as much as a not-so-small part of her was seriously panicking over the whole situation. Her only condolence was that it had to be done, and she had chosen to act on her own. She was, after all, her own person. Not just a vessel.

She bit her lip, but held her ground nonetheless.

And it wasn't long before he was standing in front of her, staring into her uncovered eye. He was surprised that he had just realized that she wore an eye patch, but thought nothing else of it. They weren't here to exchange life stories, even if he said some of his in not so many words.

Bringing up a hand and tilting her head upward, Sasuke leaned forward, only to stop when his lips were a mere centimeter away from the other's. "Relax," he whispered.

A second later found his lips against hers.

It was not... entirely unpleasant. Just very strange and warm and weird and strange.

She held herself stiff the whole time in spite of the bid to loosen up, unresponsive, not really knowing what to do.

There was nothing particularly special about the kiss. Lips meeting lips for the first time between the two of them. No other emotion other than the want to accomplish what they decided to hopefully accomplish.

So different compared to the last kiss he had.

As Sasuke pulled away, he couldn't help but think that. His kiss with Naruto had been intense and left him confused after the haze had passed. This one with Chrome in comparison was almost... innocent but without the emotion attached. There was nothing left in it's wake and while he would normally consider that a good thing, he wondered if it really was.

He took a step back to give them their space before looking at his left hand and tried to take the ring off.

Suffice to say, she was relieved it was over. That felt a little awkward... but only a little. Sasuke did not seem to be making a big deal out of it.

Since he wasn't, that only meant that she could not afford to either. Chrome took a deep breath, and tried to remove her own ring as well.

Sasuke held his ring in hand, it having slipped right off his finger. He scoffed softly. So that was what they had to do in order to get it off. Ridiculous but at least they didn't have to do anything further than that.

They were likely to discover it on their own. What a bizarre and embarrassing exercise. Chrome did not realize it, but she was frowning down at the ring now in her hand, rather than stuck on her finger.

"Others have probably figured it out by now. No doubt they'll share it over the network sometime," Sasuke replied. "As long as we've accomplished what was needed, then we don't need to do anything else."

But now what were they supposed to do with the rings? Keep them until the island decided that it had it's fun this round, just in case? Or could they just toss them aside and no longer think about them?

Sound judgment, really. Chrome considered things for a moment before speaking again.

She would never guess at how strange it was, them somehow thinking the same things at the same time.

Dark eyes stared at the ring for a moment longer before turning their gaze to Chrome.

"There's a chance of a consequence if we get rid of them. For now, we should keep them as a just in case factor," Sasuke said, thinking this would be best. Keeping them for the time being, thankful that they didn't have to wear them any longer.

Another logical decision. She found herself truly respecting this other, even if... even if the circumstances they were in now were a little strange.

Hopefully, he would not think any less of her.

He nodded in reply, the closest thing he would give that indicated his thanks in return.

And now what else was there to do? Go our separate ways. There wasn't anything else keeping them here together any longer.

But remembering what today was and the messages he saw on the network, Sasuke wasn't inclined to go back to town just yet.

Now that was a familiar question that he had heard plenty of times when he was younger. A question he tended to ignore because it usually came from squealing fangirls who wanted to spend time with him. But Chrome wasn't like those girls. If anything, he could probably enjoy her company if only because she was quiet and was intelligent enough when she did speak.

But with that question, was she offering to spend more time together or was she implying something else entirely?

"I haven't eaten since last night." Truth, but didn't exactly answer the question.
