Once upon a time, it was great to be a student at the University of South Carolina. The Old Ball Coach and his Gamecocks were ranked #6 in the nation and #1 in the SEC East. It was a good football season to be a Gamecock.
After they realized that they almost lost to UNC in the last few minutes of the game, Gamecock fans hoped and prayed that the team would put in a good week of practice and solve their problems on the offensive line before the biggest month of their season.
The Gamecocks and Coach Steve had other plans.
They apparently went to the State Fair. For a week.
Justin Sorenson was excited to try a deep fried Oreo. He ate 10. "I hope I'm able to remember how to play football this weekend!" he exclaimed.
Blake Mitchell, on the other hand, ran excitedly towards the Crazy Mouse. As he got off of the ride he yelled, "I won't be able to see straight for a week!"
Chris Smelley said, "I wanna ride the ferris wheel!!!" Poor Chris got stuck at the top, though, and didn't feel so good anymore. "I think I'm gonna hurl!' he whined.
Saturday rolled around and the smell of funnel cake and carnies wafted through the air in Williams Brice Stadium. It was high noon. It was game day.
That was the day that Vanderbilt won.
THE END. (of our season)
