Alright. The back door draft is just a name for something called the stop-loss program. It isn't really a draft...Kerry just used the name to provoke more interest to the issue. The Stop Loss program isn't going to draft civilians like a true draft does....instead it takes military volunteers and keeps them in service past the time that they were required to serve. It also calls up people who aren't on active duty anymore. I'm not saying that this is right, or that I totally agree with it.....but to support my lj post....the back door draft isn't a real draft, the bill in Congress was turned down, and Bush will veto a draft bill if it does make it through. So...we're safe from the draft at least while Bush is in office (I guess Kerry too, becaues he doesn't support a draft). So i'd say we're set for the next 4 years. After that....who the hell knows....and that sucks.

I think regardless of who's elected we are going to have a draft. The back door draft is pulling in people who have been out of the military and forcing them back into the military ( ... )

i'm not offended. I like having these convo's with you because you know a lot..and it makes me think. I learn new stuff too lol. As far as the draft goes...I just don't think that it is necessary at this point. WWII was an instance for the draft. This is not WWIII...yet. And until situations become completely necessary, I think a draft is out of line. Just my opinion.....
