"Bigger Than Hitler, Better Than Christ" by Rik Mayall

Title: Bigger Than Hitler, Better Than Christ
Author: Rik Mayall
Final Thought: Disappointing

I've always been a sucker for British humor. Rik Mayall is one of the biggies of British comedy thanks to his TV series' The Young Ones and Bottom, as well has his appearances in Blackadder series among other things. As a performer, he's famous for being this manic, crazy, spaz of a fellow. Unfortunately he decided to write this book as the spaz instead of the real man. This book was supposed to be an autobiography but in the end it only featured some biographical info thrown in with a lot of bullshit and mindless babbling in between.

There's one chapter where he talks about a terrible quad-bike accident he was in and that's how I wish the whole book was like. He was serious but still witty. It was like the real Rik decided to write the chapter while the persona Rik took a break for awhile. I’ve seen him in interviews. I know he can be normal and charming. Not to mention SHY! I specifically remember him saying something about wanting to shit his pants whenever he had to go in front of a live audience. I wanted THAT man to write this book. Not Rick the People's Poet or Lord Flashheart. Rik Mayall is so much more interesting than this book. It was really a waste.
