Title: On the Road
Author: Jack Kerouac
My Grade: C-

Ok. So, I'm going to confess something... I don't get it. The big hoopla over this book. Yes, I understand it's considered a classic and Kerouac is godlike to many, but "On The Road" did nothing for me. I can appreciate Kerouac as a writer and an icon, but when I think of the "beat" generation of writers... I have to say I'm a Burroughs girl in the end. I think evilcupcakes (who's a Kerouac devotee) was right. This is a book that should be read when you're in your teens... perhaps if I had, I could appreciate it more. But, being 26 years old, I'm left wondering what the big deal was. I am however, glad that I read it, and this does not scare me from reading more Kerouac in the future.
