Summary: Ixion was no longer a safe place. After they had taken over the town, citizens had no choice but to submit themselves to them. It was either you run from them, or join them. To cut it short, this is just a story of two boys who had better plans than to stick around and turn into one of them.
It was the 9th day of winter in Ixion, the snow had already crept up to a few centimeters from the ground. Taemin had a hard time lifting his foot up from the ground as it kept sinking back in when he put it down. He huffed, sweeping his sweaty fringe away from his face as he clutched his knees, tired from this long trek across the street. "Are tired already?" he heard a deep voice from behind him, he glanced back, it was Minho. Taemin smiled shyly, he knew how easily tired he'd be if he went outside but he couldn't help it if Minho was on the other side of the street, prompting him to come over. Minho's face was a nice shade of pink, the snowflakes from that morning set prettily on his hair and clothes as he walked closer to him. "Come on," he urged, carrying the younger boy in a bridal style as he squeaked in embarrassment. "Hyuunngg," Taemin whined, playfully punching the boy's chest as he tried to squirm out of his grip. "Let me go,"
"If you keep going at this pace the snow will cover you before you can reach the other side," he smirked, holding Taemin tighter, amused by his whining and squirming.
Ixion was a large town in the middle of the Celestial Province. It was a place where people from many towns across the the country would go through to get to their destination and also it was a place for trading items. Many types of people visited this place and Taemin knew that more than anyone. His parents had owned an inn in the middle of town for visitors to stay before venturing out the next day, it was a small business of theirs. He'd seen people from the sunken town of Eridanus, the town where the houses were floating on water and built over an ancient town that was submerged from a tsunami centuries ago, the magic city of Lyra and many other places Taemin has never heard of.
Since as a child, he had dreamt of traveling to all these places, reading countless books from the town library, talking to the visitors at the inn, it amazed him to no end. The one thing that amazed him the most was Minho. He was a boy from Alfrik, the neighbouring town of mercenaries, where the best weapons were made and also the best soldiers as well. His father had been the general of the Celestial Empire and was appointed to Ixion when he moved here. The increasing sights of the vampires made the townsfolks unhappy and insecure, it would definitely jeopardize the trading here and it worried the government. With a heavy sigh and heart, only his father and Minho moved to Ixion, not wanting to risk the danger of the entire family.
The boy was fascinating as he was quiet, which made him even more fascinating. He had encountered him when he saw his father was giving them their rooms at the inn. He stared at Minho from behind his father's apron, curious to who this boy was. He rarely saw children at the inn, maybe one or two, but they never seemed interested in Taemin.
Minho, well, Minho was different. The longer Taemin stared, the longer he stared back. The two spent the next 5 minutes staring at each other until their fahter's had realized what they were doing and introduced the two to each other. It wasn't long till they were outside in the hot summer day trying to catch fishes in the pond nearby. Minho had caught a big koi fish while Taemin only managed to catch a few guppies. "Hyyuung~" he whined, "How are you so good at catching fishies," he pondered, poking Minho's arm while pointing to the obviously huge koi fish and his small guppies. "Hyung's appa taught him how to catch fish. Want me to teach you?" he asked, smiling at the small figure under him as he ruffled his hair. Taemin nodded in excitement, hugging the older boy, silently thanking him how to teach him to catch fish.
