Summary: The little blue bird that flew past Minho's window everyday was more that what it seemed to be. The little blue bird had always wanted to experience the feeling called 'love,' ever since he had heard of it. He tried and tried again, looking and searching for this so called 'love,' And he finally did. The minute he layed eyes on Minho's smile, he knew he was in love. But how could a little blue bird fall in love with a human? Just one wish. That's all he asked for.
Author Note: Hello there. I am back!~ -throws chocolates in the air- I wrote this for a contest a few months ago but I knew I couldn't finish it by then so, I scrapped it but I'm still continuing it, so don't worry~
Ahh! He’s here again today, thought the little blue bird, quietly hopping over to the open window as he looked into the room. A boy with dark brown hair was scurrying in the said room, a piece of toast sticking in his mouth as he rushed to grab his bag from the nearby chair. His heart skipped a beat as he saw the boy smiling, looking at himself in the mirror with the piece of toast still stuck in his mouth.
‘Minho dearie,’ a sweet voice called from below. ‘The bus is coming in a few minutes,’ Minho quickly munched on his toast, calling back, ‘Coming mom!’ Checking himself in the mirror one more time before rushing down the stairs. The little blue bird flew towards the lower window, observing Minho practically flying down the stairs. The bird chirped in delight, Maybe Minho wants to fly? Maybe I could teach him. The bird’s little brown eyes shone brightly in delight but then frowned when it realized something, But he’s human.. And I’m a bird.. It’s impossible.
The boy left the house, wearing his shoes while doing so, jumping with his hands tying the loose shoe laces on his white shoes. His bag slumped to one side of his shoulder, causing him to fall down on his face. The little bird giggled as the boy went into the bus, smiling as he saw him chatting happily with his friends with an excited expression on his face.

He waited everyday for Minho to come home. The boy who came back from school everyday with dirt in his hair and his mud covered shoes walking happily out of the bus. The little blue bird waited everyday for him to come home. He’d fly up to Minho, sing a lovely song for him while the boy smiled, watching the bird in awe as it sung its song. Minho would wave to the little bird, greeting it with a small hello before walking into the cinnamon scented house he called, home.
It all started a few months ago, the little blue bird had traveled far from his home, the forest, before he encountered Minho. He had never been outside the forest. Never in his life from a hatchling to a full fledged bird had he ever laid his wing outside the forest air. He was surprised at first, happily flying through the bustling city, meeting new friends and what not. What surprised him were the couples out during Christmas morning.
Couples from all ages were walking hand in hand, smiling with each other, cuddling even. It opened a new world in the blue bird’s eyes. He smiled, admiring the couples when he overheard a few people talking. ‘Ahh. Isn’t young love just refreshing?’ another coupled beamed, except this couple was much older than the younger ones on the street. The older man sipped from his tea cup, his fingers covering the outer surface of the cup.
Love?, the little bird thought. What is love? Is it a kind of food? A kind of bird maybe, the blue bird couldn’t help but fancy the word love.

It was cold like it was every winter, he stopped outside a small cafe because his feathers were starting to get cold. The cafe inside was bright with cakes, treats and hot drinks on the tables and display. There were many people inside of course, happily chatting away. A young girl threw him some crumbs as the little blue bird happily ate it away, the sweet taste of sugar and cake icing.
It wasn’t far away when he noticed a group of young boys were making a fuss near a table. ‘No! It’s mine! The last piece is mine!’ a boy shouted out loud, his deep voice standing out from the rest. The boy grinned, grabbing the last piece of cake, shoving it into his mouth, the other boys shouting out loud as well. ‘Hey! That’s unfair Minho,’ another boy pouted, his arms crossed, staring down at the empty plate.
‘Now, now boys,’ a gentle voice said. ‘Let’s not fight. It’s just cake. Don’t forget we have a championship to win later,’ the gentle voice belonged to an even older boy, or a young man even. ‘But Leeteuk hyung!’ the previous boy cried out, tugging on Leeteuk’s shirt, wiping his mild tears with it. ‘No buts Jonghyun, I’ll treat you to cake later, okay?’ The short one, which was Jonghyun, nodded, his sniffling nose making noises as he held Leeteuk’s hand.
After that, the little bird couldn’t care less to what else was going on outside the cafe because he was too immersed in the other boy’s eyes. No, not the crying one. The one who stole the cake. His eyes were deep brown, and pretty big in the bird’s opinion.
The kids then left, except for Minho who was staring at the him. ‘Hello there birdie,’ he greeted, squatting to the bird’s eye level. ‘You want some cake?’ he asked, reaching into a wrapped tissue in his palm and took out a small piece of another piece of cake. The little bird was skeptical at first, but then the sweet smell of sugary goodness reeled him in. He hopped slowly and carefully towards the small piece. ‘I actually saved this for my sister but, I guess a she wouldn’t notice anything,’ he grinned, his smile encouraging him to come closer.
The little bird hopped once more, but with more confidence and happily. He pecked at the small piece and then the larger boy smiled. While the bird was eating the cake, Minho slowly stroked the bird’s feathers. The bird flinched but then relaxed into the other’s touch.
From that little stroke and piece of cake, little did the two know about the fate that the angels themselves have winded up for them. Filled with criss-crosses and dead ends, all they could do was just hope for a happy ending.
