So busy as of late

Let's see...well, school has been enjoyable. I really like the kids and the district. It's not exactly what I thought it would be - when you hear Half Hollow Hills, you think Dix Hills, nice area. But the socioeconomic demographic of the district is really wide-spread - you get some really really really rich kids and then some really really really poor ones. Most of the kids I have come from the former, but my 8th period class - my 8th graders, come from the latter. That class really reminds me of my Freeport kids, so at least I know what mistakes NOT to make with them. They require a LOT of their first-year teachers, and I feel very very overwhelmed at times. But the kids have learned a lot of music in a short period of time, so that we can really work it later in the semester.

I've been having a great time with Greg lately. We saw March of the Penguins on Thursday - which was SO cute, and we've spent a lot of time together from Wednesday to today, which is always nice. I kind of need that right now - this two week period (started 9/15/ and ends 9/27) is going to be a rough one for me, so the more time I spend with those who really care about me, the better. Nothing is happening currently that would make this period rough, but because of last year, I just need to get through this time without anything horrible happening. ::breathe in, breathe out:: I mean, my life is so very different than it was at this time last year - nothing is really the same - but I just need to get away from this two week period.

I was accepted into the Long Island Masterworks Chorus. I'm singing Sop. 1, which is good. We're doing some Bach and some Handel and some 20th century stuff, but what gets me is that we're also doing the end of the Agnus Dei from the Vaughn Williams mass....oh, choir tour. BARROOMM!!!!!

Okay, now that I've updated (somewhat, as I know this entry is completely incoherent!), time to go write lesson plans and update the planbook.
