I tried reading City of God by E.L. Doctorow and was about half way through when I gave up. I don't like giving up on books but I just couldn't get into it. Everyone says it's worth sticking with but I guess I just wasn't in the right mood for it. Maybe I will pick it up again. I am interested to see how he pulls it all together ( Read more... )

I'm reading a really good book right now called The Lake of Dead Languages by Carol Goodman. It's a mystery the way The Secret History was a mystery - about a group of girls at a small boarding school getting engrossed in Latin and pagan traditions, etc. It's another one of those books that's so engrossing I very nearly miss my T stop when I'm ( Read more... )

I've given up on reading Are You Somebody?: The Accidental Memoir of a Dublin Woman by Nuala O'Faolain and am reading a little Agatha Christie instead (Murder on the Orient Express).
