The space between the rocky walls was stretch, making impossible to jump as he would do in an open field. This was a slow ascent, sharp stones bruising his skin as he supported his weight momentarily, seizing the jutting areas to avoid falling and make the climb useless.
His frown disappeared when he felt the top closer than ever, and his mouth, previously set in a firm line, twisted with a smirk. From above the sea looked like an immense blot of ink, merging with the darkness of the night. It was just a matter of time to wait for the storm.
So the rainfall came, and the big droplets that clung from his eyelashes turned everything around him into an indistinct mass, lightning strong enough to leave him blind even for a while, thunder roaring louder with every second. He smiled with confidence, unleashing his attack as if he were about to battle against nature, holding with bare hands a power that many thought he was unworthy to possess.
Pity and hatred didn’t exist in that moment. No one was around to whisper truths that were meant to be heard in reality, there were no insults aimed at his pride, nor cruel laughter every time he was unable to defend his brother’s memory. From here his heart didn’t ache just to think of the loneliness he felt, and his doubts were blurred, hidden between his other thoughts. Whenever he stood among the rumble without flinching, he knew that nothing could reach him then, not even his fears.
And because he was invincible, he didn’t need someone else to survive.
