Oh, Hell.. It got worse...

Fire... Inside a cave... A closed system...

A fire inside a closed cave would burn the oxygen out of the air pretty quickly. It would have to be larger than a city for the fire to brun longer than a day or two.

Then, there are those "Monsters"... They just get better (re: worse) by the minute.. Not only do they have sonar, but they can also swim and fly...

And the Characters keep following them... Down tiny holes... In the dark, when the "Monsters" have already been established to be able to both see and move quickly...

Then, they are wet, and in short sleeves, and climbing around in an ice cave toward the end of the movie, yet they never even mention the cold, the fact that they could become hypothermic in minutes of exosure to freezing temperatures...

Then, of course, at the end of the movie the "Monster", which is actually a mutation caused by a virus or bacteria in the cave, declares its intentions to "want to get out" of the cave, through one of the characters who escaped.. Naturally she wanders off into a crowd... If any sort of virus like that got loose into the world. There would be little chance of containing it, which makes me wonder:

Why didn't the "virus/monster" just hitch a ride on some other vector out of the cave... a fish (which there were plenty of) could be ridden to an area where the cave connected to the surface, and then a bug, bird, lizard, or whatever could be used to get out of the cave...

And, what did those things eat while in the cave... There seemed to be lots of the "monsters", and caves are not known for their ability to support large animals.. Fish are about the largest animals found in caves that do not leave them to feed (like bats). These monsters were pretty much trapped in the cave (although, if you think about it... They could swim, and the characters got out of the cave through an opening in a pool of water the monsters seemed to have full acces to... They were supposed to have all of these hyper-senses... They would have been able to feel the temperature differences and move toward the warmth...

This movie is just full of all kinds of stupid.

Something struck me though, while watching this peice of trash.

The main character was the bounty hunter in "Pitch Black", which also had some blind, flying monsters with sonar... The heads and teeth in both movie monsters look very much the same...

I will have to check out the credits, as I will bet that the same special effects, or features designer worked on both movies...

At least Pitch Black had Bin Deisel in it, and a slightly better story to it... This one was just full of all kinds of stupidness.

One last thing.. The "Cave" was supposed to be in Romania, but it looks an awful lot to me like the Pacific Northwest, or someplace like the Rockies or the Dakota Hills..

I'll bet you anything that they filmed it in the US, or Canada... Of course, why would I expect a low-budget semi-horror movie to go to Romania to film scenes that don't show a single part of Romania???
