Not only have I apparently missed the whole Scissor Sisters phenomenon (never mind all the other music phenomenons I've missed out on), but their rendition (included lovingly on Cory's 2004 mix) of "Comfortably Numb" makes me want to hurt someone.
fauxbear has already badgered me for this opinion, but I hear it, and I think the same thing I think about Korn's recent version of "Another Brick In the Wall"--it takes the original spirit of the song and stomps all over it. It just didn't seem right at all. Plus (the part he really mocks me about), I generally thing remakes are annoying, unnecessary things.
Keane is my new favorite band, just for that one song.
Also, thanks for "Comfortably Numb." After you played that for me in STL, I went to the iTunes store and downloaded it, but the only version they had was a remix that left out a lot of the song. (Most notably, the "there is no pain" part.) I like the full version a lot better.
Thanks once again for the CD Cory. Here's a little run down of my favourites:
Miss Kittin Jens Lekman the 'fragrant' Saint Etienne (I'm not that big on them, but this one hits all the right buttons) Peaches (a great great track) The Magnetic Fields (this one I love to bits, and as you say, yeah, I think we've all been there. Is the electro power of this track down to TMF, or is that Rob Rives' influence? This is the one track on the cd that's inspired me to explore the artist further...in fact, I think I'm away to the iTunes store now to hear a few samples) Keane and yes, Kylie too.
The original version of ...boyfriend is a sort of disco-y rock flavoured track. Although in the liner notes of the album "i" he mentions that not one song on this record included any synths. So, the electro oomphf came from Rob Rives.

The Scissors is now, of course, a given. : )

a really strong return to the old sound. Simon le Bon's voice still sounds great. Love the lyrics too. : )
