a slight review of 2006...word up

Jan 10, 2007 23:13

I know this should have been posted last friday when I came back from my trip, but I've been busy lately. I think this is a pretty good summery of my year though. 2006 was terrific for the most part, but did end on an odd note. ps- I have to point out that I did see 22 concerts this past year. oh man, i'm awesome!

1) Was 2006 a good year for you?
I think it was actually, which is a nice change for once! So many good things happened; however, I did have some difficult moments too.

2) What was your favorite moment of the year?
This is tough one. There have been some really great moments this year. Meeting Joan Jett, hanging out with friends, going to that after party backstage with massive attack, She wants revenge giving me that huge shout out at the Depeche Mode concert. Also interviewing She Wants Revenge back in February was so fucking cool. Seeing AFI at the 930 club was amazing. Meeting Eric while in line for the Brand New/Dashboard Confessional show is another good one. The car ride home from getting Rudy was a sweet moment in life as well. I almost forgot about meeting INXS! There are a lot of choice moments.

3) What was your least favorite moment of the year?
I am not sure. I've lost two pets this year, a former friend of mine died in a bad car accident, my aunt has been dying of cancer all this year, my father has had some choice moments too. I think also dealing with some of my own depression has been a bad moment.

4) Where were you when 2006 began?
At my home in my living room. Feeling defeated and watching Fall Out Boy performing on MTV's New Year's eve thing.

5) Who were you with?
myself. Everyone else had gone to bed.

6) Where will you be when 2006 ends?
In the living room watching AFI perform on MTV's New Year's eve program

7) Who will you be with when 2006 ends?
Probably by myself again.

8) What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
I have held down my own radio show and it became a bit successful too! I saw Massive Attack live. Never thought that would happen. I somehow ended up backstage at their after party. That has never happened to me ever in my life. Also, I got my wisdom teeth removed this past summer. Never done that before. It was quite interesting. I was also on a children's show called Pancake Mountain. It's cool to say I've been on children's television. One more thing is that I got published in a lit magazine that wasn't school related! I almost forgot, I joined the Despair Faction this year.

9) Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I think I did keep some resolutions. I made really good grades this past semester. I feel like I have my life back together. I'm not as hopeless as I was a year ago. Life for once feels good. I have friends and family who are there for me and I adore them very much.

My resolutions for next year are to lose weight, get my driver's license, keep up the good work with my grades, to fight like a brave with getting into school of journalism, get published again, and to try asking a boy out on a date.

10) Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes actually. My friend Ashley from high school gave birth to a baby girl.

11) Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, I'm afraid so.

12) Did you travel outside of the US in 2006?
No. I would like to though.

13) How many different states did you travel to in 2006?
West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC, Virginia... I didn't do much travel this year unfortunately.

14) What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Entry into the school of journalism, more traveling, a few dating experiences i suppose

15) What date(s) from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
quite a few. This year: February 18th, April 23rd, May 21st, June 6th, July 23rd, July 27th, September 28th, October 17th, November 1st, November 18th, December 9th, December 12th... i'm sure there's a lot more.

16) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably getting a 3.3 gpa. Mastering Astronomy and getting my life back together.

17) What was your biggest failure?
Not being honest with some people and human sexuality (I got a D in that class because I suck at knowing what happens in terms of hormones during pregnancy!)

18) Did you suffer any illness or injury?
Yes. My asthma was a bitch at times this year. I also remember having the flu last semester. This past summer I got my wisdom teeth removed. In terms of injuries, I fell walking up a set of stairs.

19) What was the best thing you bought?
Clothes, concert tickets, and some books

20) Whose behavior merited celebration?
My mother's. She's the hardest working woman ever.

A couple concerts... INXS, Good charlotte, She wants revenge, Depeche mode, massive attack,AFI!!! Also, meeting joan jett that made me seriously excited.

24) What song will always remind you of 2006?
That's tough. This whole year i've done a radio show. I think there are a few songs that will stick in my mind. "Love Like Winter" by AFI, "Promiscuous Girl" by Nelly Furtado, "Sexyback" by Justin Timberlake, "Suffer Well" by Depeche Mode, "Move Along" by All American Rejects,"Tear You apart" by She Wants Revenge... I'm sure there's more to that actually.

25) Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? About the same
ii. thinner or fatter? About the same
iii. richer or poorer? No idea at all. I know I have more money in my account, because I've been working this year and holding down steady jobs and saving money.

26) What do you wish you'd done more of?
My homework. If I worked like I should have been, I'd be fucking awesome right now.

Procrastination.

I spent it with my parents and sister. It was nice.

Everyone knows.

31) If yes, do they know?
I think so. I told the one, but the other doesn't know.

Really, it's not being in love. It's called having crushes! and yes I'm still sweet on certain guys I like.

Nah. I don't regret liking somebody unless they turn out to be something awful.

Yes of course I did.

42) Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
